Application Guidelines

  • Application to be sent to Studio Film Office
  • At least 30% of the total production crew must be Malaysian
  • Intern Requirement: Should have 5 interns minimum for every increase of RM50 million in QMPE (interns do not count toward the 30% Malaysian crew requirement above )

QMPE

QUALIFYING MALAYSIAN PRODUCTION EXPENDITURE ​
  • A minimum Qualifying Malaysian Production Expenditure (QMPE) of MYR 5 million (inclusive of Post Production); or
  • 10% of total QMPE, or MYR 1 million spent (whichever is higher), on facilities and services of Iskandar Malaysia Studios

ELIGIBLE FORMATS

The formats which are eligible for FIMI PLUS are :

FEATURE FILMS

Referring to a film of at least sixty (60) minutes in length that is intended to be screened as the main attraction in commercial cinemas.

SERIES

This is a stand-alone programme of at least one hour in length that is exhibited commercially in a medium other than cinema. Minimum MYR 200,000 per hour.

DOCUMENTARY

A documentary is defined as a programme that is a creative treatment of actuality other than news, current affairs or light entertainment programme.

single episode programme

This is a stand-alone programme of at least one hour in length that is exhibited commercially in a medium other than cinema (e.g., telemovies, webfilm, video-on-demand, etc.).

REALITY PROGRAMME

A television series depicting events in a dramatic or entertaining way, with a heavy emphasis on dramatic impact or entertainment value (capped at a 20% cash rebate).
